I’m going on the World Race!
If you haven’t heard of it before you’re probably wondering “is that like the Amazing Race?”
The short answer is “No”. Although it is full of amazing beauty, ingenuity, savvy world travel, and teamwork, it is far from the glamorous reality TV show. I will be joining a team of 18 young women to share the hope of Christ through a variety of ministry opportunities. Our travels will take us across continents of the Global South (Central & South America, Africa and possibly South Asia).
How did I hear about the World Race (WR)
Stephanie May Wilson’s “Girls Night” podcast is where I heard about it first. Her WR story resonated with me. I’ve been inspired with the idea for multiple years and couldn’t shake it. I feel that God has positioned me at this point in my life to finally take the leap.
Why do I want to go?
I want to go on the WR because God has put a desire in my heart since college to do mission work abroad, especially Africa. I’ve learned bite sized lessons from God since then and am re-ignited in my desire to go. I now know that God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called.
When I got my MBA in 2012 I picked a focus on International business because of a desire to work with those of other cultures. I don’t want to just pray for God to heal the broken and support the under-resourced. I actually want to be a tool He uses to help answer that prayer. We may only be able to impact a few people this year, but those few may be able to impact so many more.
What ways do I hope to grow in my relationship with Christ?
To understand and rely on God for my “daily bread” a.k.a to grow my trust and faith in him. I know he can do powerful work in and through me to support the forgotten. I think it’s valuable to witness both the beauty and the pain of the world. I hope a fire towards ministry would be lit within me and allow me to grow spiritually & creatively.
Thank you readers & supporters!
Thank you to the dozens and dozens of people that are supporting me both financially and emotionally. This mission trip is an opportunity of a lifetime made possible through your kind generosity.
I’ll fill you in as it progresses! Leave me a comment on what you’d like to know, see and hear from me while I’m on this journey.
Challenge question for you: What nudge has God been placing on your heart?
I am ecstatic about your mission and that you have become a “fisher of men”. I just wanted you to know I will be praying for you, and your team daily. I would be happy to continue to pray for anything more specific if needed. Enjoy the journey and know that while we don’t always see exactly how the mission effects those you come in contact with, the Holy Spirit is working through you! God bless your journey Tank!
Thank you Wendy! Your prayers are greatly appreciated. It is a honor to be a part of this team of young women and see how the holy spirit will use me to share Jesus’ love.
Steph I am so happy to follow your journey! We miss you tons at OT – especially now that it’s Dri-tri season ????.The positivity you brought there is no doubt bringing so much joy to those around you in travel. Sending love & light!
It will be so fun when we enter the kingdom fully to find out exactly how many people we impacted and how! You will undoubtedly impact WAY MORE people than you realize and create a ripple effect with your squad that finds its way throughout the world.
I’d love to hear about training camp from your perspective.
